My Son Colin
My procedure owes much to tachisme (abstract impressionism) and to divisionism-techniques developed by neo-impressionist painters. I pass these designs (originally black & white), whether they are lines or squiggles, through a scanner. After this, I treat them as spots or as defined areas to which colors are assigned, following certain rules. Or the rules can be dispensed with and the colors can be assigned at random. I apply the colors in successive layers, transparent layers, and by juxtaposition. The work is printed on Arche paper or on large format photographic paper in order to reveal all the imagery and wealth of colors.
